皇家艾伯特纪念馆和艺术馆位于埃克塞特旧城的中心。建筑的扩建、优化和翻新创造了一个新的入口花园，其中有两层通高的接待空间，服务于新的临时展览空间。
每个展览空间都经过了整修，博物馆室内空间最重要的布局被连接两个新的室外空间的路径打破：一个有屋顶的庭院和一个三层的线性空间，通向新的入口。新的步行桥连接了博物馆和临近的罗马城墙。
The structural scheme is a traditional frame covered with shingles. Two types of lighting: the first resembles candles, the second - luminous cross. Entrance is a part of opened wall. The glass door gives the impression of openness.
